Climate Smart Cities is CREASION’s initiative to reduce the adverse effects of plastic pollution by strengthening Nepal’s existing recycling system through a circular economy model. Implemented in Kathmandu Valley and Bharatpur (Bagmati Province), the project focuses on high footfall and plastic hotspot areas where targeted interventions can generate measurable environmental and social impact.

VFC involves passionate and innovative youth to bring visible and sustainable changes to the community. Through VFC, we welcome young minds who bring their fresh and enthusiastic energy and approaches to CREASION and in return gain practical knowledge and experience in a culturally diverse and naturally rich country like Nepal.

Pokhara Metropolitan City, like many cities in Nepal, is facing a growing waste problem due to increasing urbanization, consumerism and a system that encourages throwing things away after use. This places immense pressure on local waste management systems along with contributing to environmental pollution and missed opportunities for sustainable job creation.

Developing a measurable and verifiable recycling chain ensuring proper recollection and recycling of the various types of plastic waste across the untapped areas of the nation along with the social inclusion of waste workers.

The overall objective of the project is to strengthen the existing organization and advocate for the waste pickers by conducting Regional workshops in three provinces- Madhesh Province, Lumbini Province and Bagmati Province.

A SUSTAINABLE APPROACH TO TACKLE PLASTIC IN NEPAL RIVERS.

The informal recycling sector (IRS) plays a key role in delivering waste management services worldwide, particularly in countries where formal waste management systems are poorly organized or non-existent. However, the contribution of the IRS to the circular economy isn’t well understood, due to the challenges associated with data collection and the generalisability of that data.
