Students from Climate Smart Schools supported by the GreenShift Nepal project marked World Environment Day with a wide range of environmental activities across Khadak Municipality, Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality, and Tilottama Municipality. Through awareness campaigns, environmental learning, and community action, young people demonstrated their leadership in promoting sustainability and climate resilience within their schools and communities.
The celebrations reflected the GreenShift project’s commitment to strengthening Climate Smart Schools as spaces where young people can develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to lead local climate action.
Khadak Municipality: Inspiring Environmental Responsibility Through Collective Action
Students across Climate Smart Schools in Khadak Municipality celebrated World Environment Day by organising awareness rallies, tree plantation drives, school clean-up campaigns, Eco Club orientation sessions, and community outreach activities.
- Shree Bhawani Prasad Sakal Prasad Ram Prasad Janta Secondary School, Saptari, marked World Environment Day with awareness rallies, tree planting, and waste management activities.
- Students of Shree Janata Secondary School Bhairoganj Belha conducted a community awareness rally, encouraging people to protect the environment.
- Students of Shree Rajaji Tulasilal Jonchhe Janata Secondary School, Saptari, observed World Environment Day with an awareness rally and a plantation drive on the school premises.

In Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality, students transformed World Environment Day into a community-wide effort to reduce plastic pollution and promote environmental responsibility.
Activities included awareness rallies, plastic waste collection campaigns, plantation activities, Eco Club orientations, school clean-ups, and community engagement programmes. Students were joined by teachers, Eco Clubs, Scouts, and local stakeholders, highlighting the importance of collective action in addressing local environmental challenges.

Climate Smart Schools in Tilottama Municipality marked the day through a diverse range of educational and practical activities. Students participated in awareness rallies, sanitation drives, plantation programmes, essay and slogan writing competitions, environmental learning visits, and plastic-free initiatives.
By combining environmental education with hands-on action, students explored responsible waste management, environmental conservation, and circular economy practices while showcasing their creativity and leadership.
