BIDUR, NUWAKOT - In response to recent devastating flash floods and landslides, CREASION mobilized immediate ground relief operations in Bidur Municipality, distributing comprehensive emergency packages to 200 displaced families while carrying out on-ground assessments for ongoing humanitarian support.
A response team led by CREASION President Aruna Karki visited the impacted areas directly to coordinate with community representatives and oversee the handover of essential materials.
To address urgent daily hygiene, health, and dignity needs, each distributed relief kit was equipped with laundry soap, bathing soap, hand soap, sanitary pads, toothpaste, toothbrushes, inner garments for men, women, and children, socks, and a vital set of basic medicines including chlorine solution for water disinfectant.
During the initial distribution, CREASION provided 100 sets of these relief packages along with two coil pipes to restore broken water lifelines at Chandi Basic School in Bidur Ward 3. An additional 100 sets of relief materials were dispatched to displaced families sheltering at Bhairum Secondary School in Hattigauda.
Alongside the distribution, the team held a formal needs assessment meeting with local representatives to ascertain the scale of destruction. According to Ward Member Sabitri Rai, the disaster has completely destroyed 27 homes, while 73 homes sustained severe structural damage, leaving them uninhabitable and unsafe. As a result, 100 families are currently displaced and must be relocated to safer ground.
Local authorities highlighted that establishing a safe transitional settlement for these 100 households requires critical infrastructure intervention. The most urgent needs identified include corrugated galvanized iron (Jasta) roofing sheets for shelters, emergency toilets, and pipelined drinking water taps.
As part of its immediate response to the floods, CREASION has been providing essential relief to affected communities. The organization remains committed to standing with affected families beyond the immediate response, ready to extend further relief and recovery support as needs emerge and communities begin the path toward recovery.
