On 23 December 2025, under the GreenShift Nepal Project supported by the European Union led by CREASION, together with consortium partners Restless Development and Youth Innovation Lab, successfully conducted a Validation Workshop and formally handed over the Draft Local-Level Solid Waste Management (SWM) Bill, 2082 to Bardibas Municipality.

The draft bill was handed over with technical support from WindPower Nepal in the presence of the Mayor Mr. Prahlad Kumar Chettri, Deputy Mayor Ms. Tara Devi, and Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Mr. Rammani Adhikari of Bardibas Municipality. Ms. Sujata Koirala, Program Director and Mr. Anant Anurag, Media and Outreach Officer of CREASION along with representative from Windpower Nepal also present in the validation. The workshop was attended by 15 representatives from key municipal departments, including the Law Department, Waste Management Department, and Environment Department, ensuring broad institutional participation and ownership. 

During the workshop, the Draft Solid Waste Management Bill, 2082 was formally presented and distributed among participants for detailed review and feedback. The session resulted in positive outcomes, with the municipality formally accepting the draft bill and committing to its refinement and endorsement.

The WindPower Nepal team provided a comprehensive presentation of the draft bill, outlining its key legal provisions and structural components. In his remarks, the Mayor of Bardibas Municipality expressed sincere appreciation to the European Union and GreenShift Nepal project for supporting the development of a local-level solid waste management legal document. He emphasized that the bill was developed in alignment with the specific needs and context of the municipality, following multiple consultations and reviews.

The municipal legal representative confirmed that the draft bill complies with the existing legal framework of the municipality. It was agreed that the suggestions and feedback gathered during the workshop would be incorporated into the document, after which the municipality would proceed with its formal endorsement.

Overall, the SWM Bill Validation Workshop marked a significant milestone toward strengthening local solid waste governance in Bardibas Municipality, demonstrating strong institutional collaboration and a shared commitment to sustainable waste management.
