Butwal, Nepal | 10 - 11 December 2025 - The Conclave on Circularity in Nepal - II: Transitioning into a Sustainable Future concluded in Butwal, bringing together policymakers, business leaders, civil society organisations, and youth to advance Nepal’s transition toward a circular economy. The two-day event was held at the Butwal Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BuCCI).
Organised under the Roots of Circularity Project, funded by the European Union and implemented by Impact Hub Association, Impact Hub Kathmandu, and Wildlife Conservation Nepal, the conclave aimed to promote sustainable production, waste reduction, and resource efficiency through collaboration across sectors.
The event was graced by the Honorable Minister Prachanda Bikram Neupane from the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Cooperatives of Lumbini Province as the Chief Guest, while Her Excellency Ms. Véronique Lorenzo, Ambassador of the European Union to Nepal, attended as the Special Guest. During the conclave, Ambassador Lorenzo visited exhibition stalls and interacted with local entrepreneurs, including enterprises supported through the Samvardhan Project’s Financial Support to Third Parties (FSTP), highlighting international support for locally driven circular economy initiatives.
Participants engaged in panel discussions and interactive sessions focusing on circular business models, policy alignment, youth innovation, and sustainable waste management. Exhibitions showcased enterprises working on biodegradable products, recycled materials, sustainable agriculture, eco-tourism, and green livelihoods from Lumbini Province.
A dedicated roundtable discussion underscored the role of civil society organisations in bridging gaps between government capacity and community needs. Speakers noted that CSOs play a critical role in awareness building, capacity strengthening, and supporting the implementation of sustainability policies at the local level, particularly where public resources are limited.
The conclave concluded with a call for stronger partnerships between government, the private sector, civil society, and youth to scale circular economy practices.
