Amidst the growing trend of Nepali youths seeking opportunities abroad, there shines a beacon of hope. Young leaders from three different provinces in Nepal are shouldering the responsibility of shaping a brighter, more sustainable future for generations to come.
The saying "Youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow" resonates deeply with GreenShift, and now, the youth groups have embraced this sentiment as they become part of the GreenShift initiative. As the project progresses with its activities, engaging various stakeholders, the youth have united to contribute to GreenShift's mission and vision: promoting a just transition to a circular economy.
In total, three youth groups from Bardibas Municipality, Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City, and Lalitpur Metropolitan City have been selected after a rigorous selection process. These youth groups, now integral parts of GreenShift, will receive grants to establish avenues for sustainable communities, raise awareness, engage and educate local governments and communities, all while enhancing their understanding of the importance of the circular economy.
Having witnessed the dire consequences of plastic pollution and waste management issues, these youth have crafted detailed proposals filled with innovative ideas for implementation in their respective communities.
After the two-day Capacity Building Training conducted by the team of CREASION, they're committed to ensuring inclusivity through various means, engaging diverse stakeholders, adopting a bottom-up approach, prioritizing sustainability and impact, and ultimately contributing to GreenShift's vision of achieving a Circularity of Plastic Waste for Net-Zero Carbon Nepal.
As we conclude the training with these young leaders, we are one step closer to our mission of shifting towards a just and sustainable world. This brings us closer to realising a future where today's youth truly become the leaders of tomorrow.
