The five-days technical training for Waste Smart Fellows was successfully conducted from 3rd to 7th March 2025. The training aimed to enhance fellows technical skills and understanding of Solid Waste Management (SWM) and Circular Economy, while familiarizing them with the goals and components of the GreenShift Nepal project.

It focused on building their capacity to assess local waste management systems and adapt to practical challenges. Key sessions covered topics such as Nepal’s current waste management landscape, GESI and stakeholder analysis, communication strategies, policy frameworks on SWM, data collection and cleaning using Tathyanka, basic GIS and Map Book components, TagMe application orientation, youth in data-driven advocacy, and OpenStreetMap exercises with the field visit to Material Recovery Facility.

The training provided both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, enabling the fellows to contribute effectively to waste management initiatives and promote data-driven, sustainable solutions at the local level.
