Since its inception in 2005, CREASION has been one of the leading organizations which have taken the required interventions to promote sustainability-based development in the country. CREASION has served as the center for social innovations, impact-based projects, a learning center for youths, and a medium by which stakeholders are engaged.
The projects are tailored to approach development through the innovative, multispectral lens and put sustainability at its core. We equally value the environment and the community that lives within and have always led our course of actions in ways that benefit through the equal engagement of our beneficiaries. Situated in Kathmandu and Chitwan districts, CREASION works through its growing network of collaborations in all provinces of Nepal. With its evolving working areas, CREASION has worked to address the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in its projects. CREASION has been an acute supporter of Nepal’s long-term strategy of technological progress, policymaking, and social transformation that will lead to a carbon-neutral, inclusive, and climate-resilient future to attain Net-Zero Emission by 2045.

WHAT PROMPTED THE START OF CREASION?
In 2005 CREASION was established as a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization with the vision of implementing compassion- based development. It was started after recognizing the need for a balanced outlook in development-based projects that integrates the spirit of volunteerism, sustainability, research and collective partnerships.
CREASION started through the collaborative effort of a group of friends to fill the gap that existed in the development sector. Mr. Aanand Mishra currently leads the organisation as the Founder and President. However, to complement and enhance his ideas we have a very strong board backing the organisation from the beginning.
HOW DOES CREASION FUNCTION?
Currently, we have a strong team of twenty-four members overseeing and working for different projects who don’t compromise on the ethics and values of the organization. Besides, volunteers are also the greatest asset of the organization who have contributed their passion, enthusiasm, time, and ideas to leverage the vision of the organization and materialize it for the betterment of our intended beneficiaries and projects.
ARE THERE ANY SPECIFIC AREAS THAT CREASION WORKS FOR?
CREASION extends its work in four different areas: Environment and Sustainability, Disaster Risk Reduction, Youth and Volunteerism, and Education and Advocacy. There are different projects that cater to these thematic areas.
WHAT ARE THE VARIOUS PROJECTS THAT WORK UNDER THE MENTIONED THEMATIC AREAS?
The different projects that cater to the specific areas are: Volunteer for Change (VFC), Waste Smart School, Recycler Saathi, Emergency Disaster Response (EDR), Women for Change (WFC), Karnali Education Mission, Empowering Youth Towards A Zero Waste National Park and Waste-Pickers Organization Research. While Recycler Saathi works for the environment and Emergency Disaster Response (EDR) looks after emergency disaster-related responses, the other three programs cater to the empowerment of children, youth and women. Volunteer for Change engages youth, Women for Change works for women and Waste Smart School educates and aware children.
WHEN AND WHY WERE THESE PROJECTS INTRODUCED?
The projects were introduced over the years as per the necessity of the situation. CREASION initially started with Volunteer for Change as a means to engage youth in the process of community-level development. However, the earthquake of 2015 and the consequences that followed led to the start of Emergency Disaster Response (EDR). Rebuild for Change through EDR continued its work in the 2017 flood as well and is activated whenever disaster hits the country. Women for Change was established in 2017 recognizing the importance of economic independence for women.
Recycler Saathi and Waste Smart School were introduced in 2019 with a focus on the environment and children. The recent COVID-19 outbreak and its impact on waste workers prompted the start of Waste Workers Emergency Relief Project in 2020.
Oxygen for Nepal is a recent campaign introduced in 2021 in response to the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic. Through this campaign, we provide essential medical services and equipment to patients and hospitals to fight the virus.
HOW DO THESE PROJECTS RUN?
Most of our projects run in collaboration and partnership with different stakeholders such as the government, corporations, schools, colleges and local communities. We love to connect with new institutions and build ideas for better activities and their impacts.
Waste Smart School is a one-of-a kind model club initiated by CREASION through its project Recycler Saathi where children and young students from government schools are taught about ways to conserve the environment and manage waste. It is an initiative to provide students and young children with an environment-friendly and environment-conscious outlook.

Recycler Saathi is a waste PET recollection and recycling enterprise of CREASION supported by The Coca-Cola Foundation. Till now, Recycler Saathi has recycled 4500+ tons of waste PET bottles, which is estimated to reduce carbon emission by 6750 tons.
An initiative dedicated to advancing the essence of recollection and recycling through education, awareness, and public participation at multiple levels. This will help bridge the gap between eco-conscious citizens and recycling of PET bottles (Note: PET bottles are any kind of plastic bottles like water bottles and cold drink bottles that have RIC code 1 written inside the recycling symbol). This initiative will provide a platform where citizens can easily access the recycling of PET bottles and contribute to their recycling by creating a circular loop.

Emergency Disaster Response is a compassion-based community regrowth initiative, which was born in the aftermath of the major earthquake and aftershock that hit Nepal on 25th April and 12th May 2015, respectively, and has continued its objectives of helping those at the time of need.
We intend to assist individuals and communities affected by disasters. We aim to bring long-term and sustainable change to communities where beneficiaries act as active recipients of help. It is also a way for us to give back to the community and to build stronger bonds and communities by helping those at the time of need.
Waste workers are at great risk due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is everybody's responsibility to ensure that waste workers are safe from any safety threats. This awareness video aims to serve as a reminder for individuals, organizations as well as waste workers to work towards maintaining safe waste management.
When the impacts of COVID-19 hit worldwide, our team diligently stood at the forefront and provided assistance to waste workers. Here’s how Pratistha Shrestha stood at the frontline providing relief and helping waste workers who were the frontrunners in fighting the virus.
As the Project Lead, Sujata Koirala had important responsibilities to fulfil. Despite the already existing risk of the virus and her important role in the team, she took any challenges that came into her way, stood at the frontline and dutifully completed her responsibilities.
With risks of the virus surrounding the team as well as the waste workers, Dr Khanal made sure everybody took precautionary steps and followed preventive measures. His dedication to ensuring his responsibility was exemplary and inspiring.
The experiences of everybody in the field was emotional and fulfilling. The opportunity to ease the lives of waste workers inspired the team. Here’s what Avipsha Rayamajhi has to say about her experience with WWERP and how it inspired her.
In support of the team, Ramji Ram has been conducting door-to-door survey and contract tracing of the corona virus. He has also been leading the food distribution in the region and helping communities sustain themselves during the pandemic and take safety measures against COVID-19.
